Waves is one of the professional audio industry’s most notable success stories.

Waves founders Gilad Keren and Meir Shaashua share music as their first love. Gilad drew upon his experience as an accomplished audio engineer, having recorded and produced hits for major Israeli artists, while Meir had been a musician in successful bands. In the early ‘90s, they joined forces and Waves was born.

With the introduction of the first audio plugin, the Q10 Paragraphic Equalizer, Waves was the first developer to create a third-party processor for the then-nascent Pro Tools recording platform, which has since gone on to become the industry standard. In the coming years, Waves would go on to release a wide range of essential studio plugins including compressors, reverbs, noise reduction tools, modeled analog components and more.

Fast-forward to today: Waves has grown into the world’s leading developer of software-based audio signal processing tools, while simultaneously expanding to meet the demand for Waves processing in hardware-based products. The current Waves product line now includes over 250 proprietary processors that have been embraced by the audio industry in music production, film, post production, broadcast and beyond. In 2011, Waves received a Technical GRAMMY® award in recognition of its outstanding contributions to the recording industry.

Maxx® technologies bring Waves studio-quality processing to consumer electronics.

About Waves

Sound Matters

The Consumer division of Waves Audio was born in the midst of an electronic revolution. As devices were getting smarter, smaller, thinner and lighter, there was a tradeoff, and audio quality was paying the price. The irony is, people were purchasing advanced devices for entertainment, with more music, movies and games available than ever before, but they were missing out on one very important element: top quality sound.

That’s when Waves realized that its professional audio tools could be adapted to address the needs of consumer electronics, so users would finally be able to hear sound the way content creators intended it to be heard.

The Waves Consumer Division, under its Maxx brand, is committed to transforming the consumer electronics listening experience. By implementing cutting-edge DSP technologies on a broad range of devices, Waves is putting professional, studio-quality processors directly into the hands of users, and setting new sonic standards.

Waves technologies dramatically improve audio output as well as input, delivering a crystal-clear, immersive listening experience, in addition to unmatched VOIP communications capabilities, and performance enhancement for Automatic Speech Recognition. When it comes to offering all-inclusive sound solutions, Waves is in a class all its own.

“Sound Matters” is more than just a slogan for us; it is the philosophy of how and why we do what we do. In fact, the people of Waves share an unparalleled wealth of real-world pro audio experience, as recording artists, producers, engineers, musicians and mixers alike. So when Waves sets out to create a new algorithm, develop a new processor, or tune a specific device, every member of the team brings far more than technical expertise; each brings a craftsman’s dedication to perfection.
